Advanced 5 day Therapy Course
Workshop Aims
To introduce qualified therapists to advanced and specific techniques to examine and treat a variety of musculo-skeletal disorders.
Workshop Objectives
On completion of the course individuals will be able to have the knowledge and practical experience to competently assess, treat and be able to identify specific dysfunction within the musculo-skeletal framework.
Course Content And Brief Outline Of Programme
The following subjects will be covered in great detail:
- Assessment of the knee/hip/shoulder/spine
- Treatment of the above
- Spinal pathologies
- Muscle energy techniques focussing on spinal dysfunction
- Strain counter-strain/Active release technique
- Mobilisation of Accessory Joints/Manipulation techniques
- Neurological testing
- Differential Diagnosis
- Orthopaedic tests
- Case history taking
- Sports injuries
- Case studies/open clinic
This is a very intense course focussing mainly on the treatment of postural dysfunction for the major joints. utilising a high standard of theoretical and practical skills; therefore a minimal level of Student ability is Sport Massage Therapist with ITEC, VTCT, Premier or similar diploma qualification. Osteopaths/Chiropractors and Physiotherapists would also be welcome.
Pre Course Learning is essential and we would suggest a good knowledge of the joints mentioned.

The course is run over five consecutive days and the venue is at the University of Oxford Sports complex, Iffley Road, Oxford, OX4 1EQ.
