What is Acupuncture for?
Acupuncture, originally part of traditional Chinese medicine, is a complementary service that can be provided that involves using needles for pain relief or for general stress relief. Although it is sometimes branded as a pseudoscience, Acupuncture poses numerous health and well-being benefits and has proven to be effective for Back and Neck Pain, Headaches, Eyestrain, Joint pain and general mental well-being.
What Acupuncture needles should I get?
If you remember your training correctly then you will remember that there are different size needles for different parts of the body. Thin needles (0.12-0.18mm) are best for sensitive parts of the body, slightly thicker ones (0.20-0.25mm) can be used on all other parts of the body. If you are looking for a specific brand, Classic is extremely popular and is very commonly found in clinics and hospitals. Seirin is another great Acupuncture needle brand.
Can I reuse acupuncture needles?
All acupuncture needles should be discarded safely into a sharps bin after use, this is because the needles pierce the skin and the needles are not sterile after use so using them again could risk infections.
How long should I leave Acupuncture needles in for?
You can leave the acupuncture needles in for anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes if you want to effectively relieve any pain or tension. This is usually a painless process so you don’t have to worry about hurting yourself or a client.
