Hot Stone Massage FAQs

What is Hot Stone Massage?

A Hot Stone Massage is a technique used by Massage Therapists and Sports Therapists. Involves heating up stones in a hot stone heater and then placing the heated stones on or along different parts of the body. The heat from the rocks acts as heat therapy which is effective at relaxing muscles and helps provide additional pain relief. The heat from the stones also helps relieve tension and this makes it easier for the massage therapist to work out tight knots or stubborn muscles that are really tense and this, in turn, means the massage is more beneficial for you.

What are the Benefits of a Hot Stone Massage?

  • Effective Pain Relief, even for Chronic Pain
  • Eases Muscle Tension and general tightness
  • Can Help Treat Stress and Anxiety
  • Better Sleep
  • Improving Circulation
  • Releases Toxins
  • Can speed up metabolism

Can Hot stone massage help with Inflammation?

In addition to the benefits listed above, Hot Stone Massage can also be helpful for addressing inflammation issues, the reason this is not listed as one of the main benefits of Hot Stone Massage is because Heat Therapy is actually not advisable for Inflammation unless Cold Therapy is incorporated as well. In the case of Hot Stone Massage, this would involve using a heated stone and a cold stone, alternating the stone correctly and not applying too much heat to the inflamed area.  The Wave Stone is an amazing tool for this type of Massage, it can easily be cooled and heated accordingly with its handy warming and cooling container and it also has added benefits for both the Therapist and Client.
